Wow another post so soon - Jess, I'm sorry I appear to have deleted your message when I deleted the repeat of my 'summer' post. Please blame my computer illiteracy - computers and I just don't go together.

Well, I believe I last posted on the Bank Holiday, the afternoon of which I spent shopping with friends and then went to the cinema to see Scary Movie 4 - I don't think I'd recommend it. Since the Bank Holiday life has been quite insane and crazy but loving most of it. I've finally got a house for next year which is one less worry - it's really close to uni so no more wasting an hour each day walking to and from halls to uni. Technically I should have been doing a large amount of revision but it hasn't happened or even started yet - I have just so much 'normal' work to do and they keep giving me more essays instead of less! :( But really I haven't been doing much work at all - instead I've been living the life of a student and going out far far far too much. A quiet drink last Tuesday turned into not being quite so quiet. I went up to London on Saturday to watch the Army vs Navy rugby - we lost the actual match but it was still a great day though very wrong - dont think we should really have been dancing quite so crazily at 5 in the afternoon - it's a bit early! Didn't get back to Bristol until 11.30pm and then had curry at about midnight - insane!

Yesterday was the Modern Languages Ball which was awesome. I didn't make it home but ended up sleeping on a friend's floor after three of us had walked in a crazy state up from the centre to her hall (near the uni).

Oh dear, I seem to have portrayed myself as a completely drunken student which is probably true. But I'm not that bad really. It's just that I really don't want to do exams and revise or do anything except sit outside in the sunshine and go out in the evenings - roll on 7th June!

Hope you are all ok. Come down and see me in bristol - it is one of the best cities.

hmm- i think maybe I've given up on my blog. It's been a very long time since my last post and I may get bored with this one in the middle but who knows? My enthusiasm my suddenly be re-awoken by this but I doubt it.

Anyway otherwise I am well. It's a bank holiday - three day weekend - yippee!!! And its sunny in bristol and there are lots of flowers, somebody had a bubble machine and bubbles keep floating past my window. I sadly do have an esssay to do but I've done 650 words (of 1500) so I think that's sufficient for the day (I mean it doesnt have to be handed in until the 15th! - very bad attitude what with exams and more essays coming up. )Anyway I have now been back here just over a week and in a way it feels as though I never left. It's been quite a nice week though sadly lacking the navy ( I did feel quite lost on Wednesday evening). We've been out on the Downs a couple of times playing frisbee and once stuck in the mud which we discovered to be a bit too energetic. Went out on Friday night to Wedgies and got hyperactively wasted - not a good plan when one has to get up at 8 the following morning but it was still a good night and saw lots of people. DofE route planning for 5 hours on Saturday - very long and tedious especially witih a hangover. Worked yesterday (well sort of), worked this morning (again well sort of) and going shopping this afternoon so therefore need to go and have lunch now so will abandon this post and maybe just maybe I'll write another one soon.

apparently it's been a very long time since i last blogged so i thought i'd give you a quick update on my life to the present. it has been quite busy, stressful and exhausting but good all the same.

most recently i have been having a normal monday at uni except far more tired than usual as i spent all weekend in a ship and got approx 8 hrs which isnt enough for one day let alone almost 3. anyway we went from portsmouth to weymouth and back again over the weekend in our ship and i was introduced to it and everything. it was my first time aboard so on saturday everyone was getting me to have a go at doing everything and then on sunday i did practically nothing as did most ppl cos we had 3 hours of extremely rough sea which made everyone except 4or 5 ppl incredibly seasick. i was very queasy but luckily not actually sick! anyway i got back yesterday evening and could barely move i was so tired.

anyway prior to the weekend i was also at uni unsurprisingly. luckily not too much but its suddenly going to get crazy over the next few weeks with essays and take-home exams (dont ask!) but then its the holidays - yeah! i cant wait.

was at home the weekend before last which was nice. i miss it far more now than i did when i was away during my gap year - very strange! went to see sophie a couple of weekends back which was very nice. saw lots of places in bath, had delicious milkshake and saw sophie's house and had yummy brownies cooked by sophie's friend.

i think that is my life up to date and i 've even worked out how to put photos in - ingenious.
well im off on a dofe social iceskating - going to be so tired tomorrow.

Apparently my blog is now the most out-of-date of those that I read that are being updated so perhaps I ought to do something about it.....

Well, it's Valentine's Day which I never found depressing until this year which has been depressing for some reason. There's a big Valentine's Ball in one of the main Bristol clubs to which loads of people are going but I've run out of energy - still recovering from being ill last week, our hall ball on saturday and waiting an hour for a non-existent bus last night (we got a taxi eventually) - so I can't be bothered to go and am semi-planning on being in bed before midnight.

Uni is going fairly well apart from lots of work to catch up on from last week. I missed 15hours of classes last week!!

I've run out of inspiration - maybe I'll continue later....

I'm afraid the only reason for this blog is that I cant be bothered to do my German homework - due for 9 am tomorrow but maybe I'll be able to blag it or perhaps I just wont go. I've discovered my rebellious side this term - who knows which direction I may go in now....

Well Im back in the West after a weekend in London where I mainly slept, read and watched films as well as seeing family. I was so tired - working most of Thursday - not quite an all nighter but very nearly and then on Friday out to Wedgies until some stupid hour of the morning and up at 8 to get the 9.30 train to London.

Just been to a DofE meeting this evening to arrange expeditions - holidays are beginning to look rather busy and chaotic with a practice expedition, possible two week navy deployment at easter (would also really really like to go skiing again but not sure if this will happen. Oh well, suppose it's better to be busy than not.

Anyway that is the end of my really boring post - I've decided that maybe I should do my German homework - I'm not very good at improvising!

well, i believe it has been over a month since i last wrote this thing - it all got quite hectic towards the end of last term and then it was the holidays and they were busy and now i am back in bristol - given up with the unpacking and not bothered to do work so i thought i'd let you know a bit of what's been happening recently.

i cant really remember much of what happened at the end of last term - lots of work and lots of parties is a vague memory and then i went home which was brilliant. so nice to be back in my own bed, own room and with family and catching up with people at home. we spent christmas with my grandparents and other close family and caught up with cousins and family friends which was good - hadnt seen most of them for so long. after new year i went up to warwick to see sarah which was good - catching up and commiserating. new zealand appealed to both of us as being a good destination to run away to.

then i went to val thorens, france on the bristol uni ski trip. apart from the coach journey there and back it was a brilliant week, snow, skiing, lots of sunshine, met some new people, met some old friends from selva and had a few parties. i got back yesterday morning and this evening finds me back in bristol, hoping for a better term than last and so tired that i might soon be in bed even though it is only quarter past seven. got tonnes of work to do this week as i have done hardly any of my holiday work.

anyway there is my latest blog update (as promised sarah). hope you are all well and enjoying life.

almost a month

I feel that I should update u on my life in case anyone is interested. It is now almost a month since I last left a message. I have tried several times since but havent got beyond the first two lines due to either not being bothered or it being 3 in the morning and lacking in energy.

But anyway, here I am now and I might finish this one... Well, it is now Week 8, actually nearly the end of week 8 and there are only 2 more weeks to go until I come home - cant wait! Dont think that Im not enjoying uni - I am (for the most part) but I'm really looking forward to being at home and with family again and hopefully having a proper Christmas ie me not cooking a four course meal for 8 guests like last year. Having said that I do kind of wish that I was in Selva once more (not for Christmas but for the rest of the winter). A couple of friends are just beginning seasons in France and some are even going back to Selva - the rest of us are so jealous. But sadly it is unlikely that I will see Selva this winter so will just have to content myself with wet Bristol. We had snow last week and it actually didnt rain for about 2 weeks but now the rain is back.

Have a huge amount of stuff to cram into these last two weeks including one 3000 word group project, one Spanish essay, one mini Spanish presentation, one huge German presentation and at least one more German essay - what joy! Plus lots of parties and socials! I will definitely be sleeping for the first few days of the holidays.

What else, as you may have read in Sophie's blog, Sophie came to visit me, which was great (thank you, Sophie - come again, pleease) - we did lots of chatting and eating. A friend of mine from Selva came to stay the weekend before last and we chatted for hours about Selva and skiing - lots of 'do u remembers' This last weekend I went down to Dartmouth with the URNU (University Royal Naval Unit) for New Entry induction/training. We stayed at the Royal Naval College and basically experienced a bit of what we would do if we joined the Navy - playing around on boats, learning to march, being inspected, swim test in a boiler suit, more playing on boats, and leadership tasks. It was really good but so tiring. I havent quite recovered - probably because I then went out on Monday night with a group of vets and last night was working late.

To go further back into the past I went down to Newquay for the middle weekend of November for a great weekend of surfing. Sadly I kept getting a headache which put a stop to me going out in the evening but still had lots of fun and the sea actually wasnt that cold.

Coming home on 16th - if any of you who have finished uni or finish before then, want to come down and experience Bristol, let me know - the invitation is always there.

Better get down to some work now.

busy times

Well, here's an update on my last week or so for those of u who still read my blog. As I write this it's nearly 2 o'clock in the morning but Im rather too wide awake to go to bed. Have been out since about 7.30pm first watching a comedy club show in a pub in Clifton which was quite funny, then wandering around Bristol with 3 random people, one of whom is the best friend of someone at JAGS who I know quite well - random coincidence again. Anyway eventually they pointed me in the direction of the club to which I was supposed to be going to meet some friends and that is where I spent the rest of the night. Was a nice club actually - very big with lots of space and some good music, and lots of bars so yes, a good night. I was tired about an hour ago but we stopped on the way home for chips so now ive got energy again - not a good idea when my first lecture is at 9am tomorrow! And is german oral - so therefore impossible to fall asleep in! Oh well.

Oh guess who else I saw in Oceana (the club) - Chloe Ballisat which was great - have met and seen so many ex-JAGS people - its kind of nice to suddenly see people who i thought i'd never see again.

I think Im doing too much which is not the best idea as everything clashes each evening. I got into the Uni Naval Unit so that takes up every Wed eve and Thurs of this week too as we're having an action adventure bar crawl which in turn clashes with the Scottish dancing practice I wanted to do. But never mind, I wont complain - keeps me busy which is good.

What else, I went kinda home on Friday - well to my grandparents house which isnt that far from Bristol but all my family was there as it was my grandmas birthday lunch. Great to see everyone again. I then got back to Bristol and slept for the whole of Sunday - Im not joking - I got up for lunch, went back to bed, got up for dinner and then went to bed about 3 hrs later.

Hope to go down to Newquay on the 12th November for a weekend of surfing and then off to Dartmouth Royal Naval College for last weekend of Nov. So all busy.

Hope all is well with all you people and come and visit whenever u want and im around - ive got an air mattress so nobody has to sleep on the floor.

cornwall - yippee!

This weekend I went on an excursion to what remains my favourite place in the entire world (well, NZ is a very close second). So anyway on Friday I entertained my parents, brother and brother's friend in my room for lunch - they provided the lunch, I provided the room and then we headed down to Cornwall. After unpacking the car, the first stop was the beach, Polzeath, where we go surfing and the waves were huge. They were breaking so far out as well. Well, we had a look and got our feet wet in the stream down the beach and then after chatting to the surf school owner we went back to our house. On Saturday and Sunday we went surfing (luckily the swell had subsided to more normal levels though the waves were still quite scarily big when we were sitting out the back and very strong. I had a very scary wipeout which involved me doing at least one backward somersault under a wave and then on the sunday managed to pull both my calf muscles so I'm hobbling around a wee bit. But nevertheless it was an awesome weekend, we were so lucky with the weather and it was great to see the place again. Im not sure I realised just how much I missed it this summer.

So yes, I got a very early train this morning back to Bristol, the city of torrential rain and had two lectures, one of which was interesting and the other which was so boring I couldnt keep my eyes open. No going out for me tonight - way too much work to catch up on and Im going to rest my strained limbs. Have a navy medical tomorrow which im a bit nervous about but hopefully it will be ok.

the last few days

Wow, this is actually my second post in the space of a week!

Hope you're all well and enjoying life. I have succumbed to some form of freshers flu and therefore have not gone to lectures today - luckily Im only missing two. I hope to recover before tomorrow so that I dont miss 6 more.

Anyway I had a nice weekend. Freshers ball on Friday night and early Saturday morning. I saw Bridget there. I didnt wear my leavers ball dress but wore a new dress instead, Then I had a swim test at 8.50am on Saturday morning - still hungover, and very tired and so after it i went back to bed and slept until lunchtime. And on Saturday afternoon I went to the cinema with some friends to see Wallace and Gromit which was very very funny. We had supper in Pizza Hut and then watched Gladiator back in hall.

Sunday was a day of relaxation and work until the evening when I started feeling ill. (We also watched Finding Neverland).

By the way I also saw Charlie Blake and Natalie Y last Tuesday/Thursday which was very nice.

Anyway that's all for now - I'm going back to bed.

At Bristol

Well, I've finally rediscovered my blog so I thought I'd write in it about the uni experience and then send and email to you and so you could go and read it if you have the time, or can be bothered.

Anyway I've now been a grand total of 13 days in the beautiful city of Bristol and I'm gradually settling in. Last week was definitely a very up and down experience - sometimes fantastic and sometimes really low - its amazing how lonely you can feel even when you're amongst so many people. But anyway I'm on an up now and even have enough energy to consider going out tonight (a rare occurence) so it's possible that I may head out later despite having a 9 o'clock start in the morning. 9 o'clock may not seem that bad to most of you but in Bristol or certainly in Stoke Bishop it involves serious effort - getting up sometime before 7.30, staggering to breakfast at 7.45am and leaving by 8.15 for the 35 to 40 min walk into town. Despite the distance and the time it takes it is actually a really nice way to wake up once you get going (well when it is not raining anyway)

We've all now experienced the famous Bristol rain and got completely soaked even with an umbrella. Today has been the first day that I've felt actually cold - previously its been quite warm.

My room is very nice - fairly big and now well decorated by posters of Selva, Johnny Depp, waves, photos of everyone and some postcards from my travels. It also has a washbasin and a phone. I share a bathroom with 3 to 5 other girls and havent had to queue yet but probably tomorrow as its the Freshers Ball and almost everyone seems to be going. Still trying to decided whether to wear my leavers ball dress or a new one I got - I think I've now lost most of the pasta weight I put on while I was travelling the leavers ball dress might actually fit again but I think I'll see what everyone else is wearing and how everyone is getting there.

What else, lectures are going fairly well and are actually quite interesting - maybe I've discovered a new thirst for learning - I dont know. Luckily not too much work at the mo but I feel I should be doing more. Tuesday and Thursday are hectic but on Wednesday I have nothing which is great. Basically once I get down into Bristol I stay there until all my lectures are done as there is little point coming back up here but Im getting fit walking up all these hills.

Society-wise I've joined the German and Hispanic societies, the surf, sail and ski clubs, the Dof E society (someday I intend to do my Gold) and Im applying for the University Royal Naval Unit so we'll see how it goes - may have an interview next week. Loads of things have clashed this week and Im supposed to be at a Spanish social now but I actually dont know where it is so I think I'll go another time when I know Bristol a bit better.

Hello all!

Welcome to my blog (no.2! - I forgot the password for blog no.1 and was denied access. Oh well) Well, I´m writing this from an internet cafe in El Puerto de Santa Maria in Spain. It´s my last day here and I´m trying to kill some time. My flight isn´t until this evening, the weather´s not nice enough to sit on the beach and I´ve wandered around enough, packed most of my things and really don´t know what else to do.

So yes, I´ve had a fantastic time here in Spain but I am looking forward to going home and spending more than two days at a time with my family. I also want to get my photos developed so I can post some of them up on my new blog! I´ve finally had my muck up day, end of school photos and summer holiday photos developed so I might put some of them up when I get back.

Anyway I´m looking forward to having three crazy weeks in London - Christmas shopping, booking flights for next year´s round the world trip, getting visas, sorting out what I need for the winter and most important of all seeing everyone again.

I´ve got to go now as I´m not sure what is happening about lunch and I also have to work out how to transport 2 bottles of olive oil and one bottle of sherry in my hand luggage as well as everything else I have to carry. My bag that I check in is already very heavy so I can´t put anything else in it.
